Too big, too small, crooked, or bumpy–there are many reasons why a person may be unhappy with his or her nose, and even the slightest flaw can throw off the entire facial balance. Nose reshaping surgery (rhinoplasty) has become an extremely popular procedure for men and women looking to improve the overall harmony of their facial features and achieve a beautiful, yet natural result.

Is nose surgery for me?
Many people are unhappy with the shape or size of their nose. A smaller nose can make other areas of the face appear larger, and a larger nose can cause other features to appear smaller. Nose surgery is designed to improve this facial imbalance through consideration of the proportionality of facial features.
Aside from aesthetic considerations, nose surgery can also be performed for medical purposes, such as clearing a nasal obstruction or repairing damage to a broken nose.
During your consultation, your Midsota plastic surgeon will listen to your goals and expectations to determine the best possible procedure plan for your nose surgery. Other facial procedures may be recommended to achieve a fuller rejuvenation of all areas of the face.
What are the benefits of nose surgery?
Nose surgery can be used to correct several common issues, including:
- Disproportionately large or small nose
- Crooked nose or bridge
- Large or bumpy bridge
- Drooping tip
- Nasal obstruction
- Nasal injury (broken nose)
How is nose surgery performed?
The details of your nose surgery will be discussed at length during your consultation. This will include information such as incision location and more detailed steps about your surgery. Because each rhinoplasty is different, the following procedure steps may vary.
General anesthesia will be used during your nose surgery. Your doctor can perform the surgery as either an open or closed rhinoplasty, depending on the location of your incision. This will be decided during your consultation. Once the incision is made, the underlying structure of your nose can be altered by reshaping or removing some of the cartilage and bone. Cartilage grafts may be necessary if your desired outcome is a larger nose or the addition of a well-defined bridge. After achieving the desired goal shape, your incisions are then closed and surgical dressings are applied.
How long does nose surgery take?
A nose surgery procedure at Midsota Plastic Surgeons will typically take about one to two hours depending on your condition.
How long is nose surgery recovery?
In the first few days following your nose surgery, you may experience mild congestion and tension headaches. You will need to wear a special cast or splint for the first week of recovery. Bruising and swelling of the nose will gradually fade over the next couple of weeks, and it is important to avoid high levels of physical activity or exercise during this time.
While it will take some time for your nose to fully heal, you should be able to return to work within a week.
When will I notice the results of my nose surgery?
Bruising and swelling will take some time to fade, but you will be able to notice the changes in the look of your nose immediately. Our rhinoplasty procedure is designed to improve facial balance and often provides patients with a significant boost in self-confidence.
How long will my nose surgery results last?
The results of your nose surgery are long lasting, however you may choose to correct or alter a past nose surgery with a revision rhinoplasty procedure (*).
