FAQ: Laser Hair Removal

What is the best way to achieve silky smooth and hair-free skin? When compared to shaving, tweezing, and waxing — laser hair removal has them all beat! Just because laser hair removal is a patient favorite, doesn’t mean that men and women do not have questions.

Here, we take a look at some of the most common laser hair removal questions that our patients have.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Laser hair removal is a very versatile treatment. Larger areas, like the back and abdomen, are popular amongst men whereas smaller areas, like the face and bikini area, are favored by women.

Will It Hurt?

Without sugar coating it, laser hair removal can be uncomfortable — but so can other methods of hair removal including shaving, waxing, and depilatories. Most of our patients feel a slight stinging. How it will feel for you comes down to a number of factors including the area of removal and the amount of hair.

Are the Results Permanent?

While you will notice significantly less hair growth after your treatment, you may still need to come in for touch-ups. For best results, we recommend that you visit Midsota Plastic Surgery every six to twelve months.

When Should I Schedule My Treatment?

Now is the perfect time for laser hair removal. While it may seem counterintuitive to schedule your treatment during the winter, the cooler months are actually an opportune time to start your treatment. Your extra winter layers provide the perfect protection from damaging UV exposure and make it easier to hide any post-treatment redness.

It typically takes five to eight laser hair removal treatments spaced four to ten weeks (depending on what area is being treated) for the treatment to take full effect. By starting now, you can have smooth skin by summer. For more about why you should schedule your laser treatment now, make sure to read our earlier blog post about why winter is the ideal time for laser treatments.
