Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty in St. Cloud
Your eyes can be giving away your age–or an age that is older than you truly are. Loose skin of the upper eyelids and puffy bags around the lower lids are common problems that happen to many men and women as they get older. Our Midsota plastic surgeons can effectively restore a youthful and vibrant appearance of the eyes with eyelid surgery.

Is eyelid surgery for me?
Eyelid surgery is most commonly performed on men and women over the age of 40 who are experiencing unwanted signs of aging around their eyelids. However, this popular plastic surgery procedure can also be used for medical reasons such as clearing vision obstruction or correcting specific congenital disorders such as ptosis.
Depending on your condition, you may require just upper or lower eyelid surgery, or a combination of both. We will discuss your options during your consultation to develop an effective treatment plan that will provide you with your desired outcome. You may also choose to combine your eyelid surgery with other facial plastic surgery procedures that address signs of aging in other areas of the face, such as a facelift or brow lift.
What are the benefits of eyelid surgery?
Eyelid surgery can provide patients with multiple benefits, including the:
- Removal of excess, sagging skin of the upper eyelids
- Improvement of puffiness or bags beneath the eyes
- Clearing of vision obstruction due to severe sagging of the upper eyelid
- Correction of congenital disorders such as ptosis
Eyelid surgery often can take years off a person’s appearance and portray a more lively and youthful personality.
How is eyelid surgery performed?
The details of your eyelid surgery will be discussed during your consultation with one of our Midsota plastic surgeons. Together you will outline whether you will need improvement of just the upper or lower eyelids or both.
Your eyelid surgery may be performed under local or general anesthesia depending on your condition. When making the necessary incisions, we are careful to keep them well hidden within the natural folds and contours of your eyelids. This will help produce more natural-looking results with nearly invisible scars.
Loose, excess skin is removed from the upper eyelid to reduce any drooping or sagging. Puffiness of the lower eye area may be corrected by removing excess skin or fatty tissue. Once we have reached your desired outcome, your incisions are closed, and any necessary dressings and bandages are put in place.
How long does eyelid surgery take?
Upper and lower eyelid surgery will normally take about 30 minutes each to complete. If you are having surgery performed on both eyelids, you can expect surgery to take up to an hour and a half to perform.
How long is eyelid surgery recovery?
The recovery period following eyelid surgery will last a few weeks. You will want to rest your eyes for the first week, so we recommend limited time in front of a screen during this period. Stitches are normally removed within a week of surgery. Most patients return to work about two weeks following their eyelid surgery.
When will I notice the results of my eyelid surgery?
Immediately following your surgery, the area around your eyes will appear red and swollen, but you should notice improvements in the overall look of your eyelids. As bruising and swelling fades over the next several weeks, your eyes will appear younger and more vibrant. Sagging of the upper eyelid and puffiness around the eyes should dramatically improve following your eyelid surgery.
How Long Will my Eyelid Surgery Results Last?
Eyelid surgery is intended to provide you with long-lasting results. It is important to remember that your face will continue to age naturally even after surgery. Still, many patients feel that they still look much younger 10 years after their eyelid surgery than they would have had they not undergone the procedure.
