Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction replaces the breast mound, nipple and areola (pigmented skin around the nipple) when the breast has been removed, often for breast cancer or prevention of breast cancer, or is absent or underdeveloped from birth. One or both breasts may need surgical attention, depending on the woman’s particular situation.  The reconstructive process is most often completed over time, rather than in a single surgery. Breast reconstruction techniques and timing are variable and the particular technique of breast reconstruction is decided after consultation with a Midsota plastic surgeon.
