Mission to Guatemala - Helping those in need
There is no greater sense of fulfillment than to use our skills to help those who are truly in need. That is why since 1988, the physicians and staff of Midsota Plastic Surgeons have been key supporters of HELPS International. HELPS International is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping rural Guatemalans have access to improved housing, water and medical care.
Midsota Plastic Surgeons has taken the lead in organizing teams of volunteer healthcare professionals to go to Guatemala and set up short term surgical and medical clinics. Healthcare in rural Guatemala is often not accessible to many citizens. So when we set up our clinics, many will walk for miles just to get what is probably their first ever doctors visit.
In 2006 we had three trips to Guatemala, each in a different location.
January 13 – 24, 2007 to Sancristobol
January 27 – February 7, 2007 to Las Casas or La Tinta
March 17 – 28, 2007 to Tejutla
